Bloodfeast: An Homage to 60s & 70s Sexploitation posters.
Apollo and Lily Marlene create an Installation with paintings at the Thought Gallery, Hollywood.
Celebrating the naivete and decadent lifestyle of the Adult Industry in the 1960s and 70s, painter Apollo Staar, has created a new series of paintings that pay tribute to the exploitative adult film posters from that era. Combining bold colors and eye-catching headlines with images from classic Hollywood Movie Monsters, these paintings capture the essence of the times and add a new take on Horror films gone “Adult”.
Each painting is entirely made by hand from inception to completion. From the personal choosing of the Douglas Fir panels that form the base, to the entire graphic and color layout of the paintings, to the multi-stage coating procedure of the final finished painting. Each painting background is first hand cut and sanded, the backing is then nailed and glued on, then double primed and then coated in black acrylic paint. The layout and colour scheme are then selected and go thru a variety of different assemblages until a perfect layout is chosen. The layering of the painting then begins. Finally, a Polymer Resin is used as a final coat and archivally seals the paintings. Each painting is an Original work.
This collection is a series of 8
original paintings which can be purchased individually or as an entire
limited collection.
